Week of Inspirational Math(s) www.youcubed.org/week-inspirational-math/ The Week of Inspirational Maths (WIM) resources are free lessons and videos about math and mindset designed to inspire students. They are ideal for the first week of school, to get students excited for the year ahead, but can be used any time. On this page, you can build your own WIM week by selecting one video, one resource for creating a positive maths community, and one task per day and adding them to your playlist. Then click “See Summary” to play videos, download materials and save/share your WIM week!
This blog post talks about science vocabulary resources and has 2 free downloads about space vocabulary. Check it out!
From HHMI Biointeractive:
Go Wild With An Inspiring New Video Series We’re excited to announce an amazing new series of films for use in your classrooms and with your communities — Wild Hope! This eight-episode video series, produced by HHMI’s Tangled Bank Studios, highlights the intrepid change-makers who are restoring wild places and sparking new hope for the future of the planet. The Wild Hope series flips the environmental doom and gloom narrative on its head with stories of bold interventions, unexpected alliances, and nature’s resilience. Explore episodes like “The Big Oyster,” which showcases how architects, restaurateurs, scientists, and high school students are allying to restore New York Harbor and protect the city from climate change by deploying one billion oysters. Or dive into “The Beautiful Undammed” and learn how a massive dam removal project is allowing salmon to return to the Elwha River—helping to revive a lost ecosystem and providing a new model for undamming rivers across the American West New episodes are available weekly. Watch Wild Hope on public television or stream episodes on our YouTube channel. Hope… and HIPPO Want a way to bring some hope into your classroom? Our new “Designing Solutions to Preserve Biodiversity” Activity has students analyze a case study about the endangered Hawaiian monk seal using the HIPPO framework that unpacks five key aspects of biodiversity loss. Students then design solutions that consider collaborators and potential constraints. Additionally, we have Educator Guides that accompany each Wild Hope video and that include background information, key concepts, and discussion questions. |
